Collage Artwork -- Old-Fashioned Storybook

This weekend I'm tapping my inner artist and trying my hand at collage artwork, mixing a variety of picture, textures, colors, items, graphics and lettering together. I was pleased with the old-fashioned, almost Victorian feel of my first collage which is a combination of images, photo filters and graphics from decorative paper:

She reminds me of a Princess in the forest, right in the middle of an old fairytale book. : )
Lots more collages to come!

Rebekkah of Canyon Moon Designs -- Beba Photography Business Highlight

I got the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at all the hard work and creativity that goes into the beautiful, custom made jewelry that Rebekkah of Canyon Moon Designs creates in her in home workshop.

The first thing I noticed when walking in Rebekkah's home is the sound of little voices and a warmth that you always wish to feel when you walk in someone's home. It was definitely evident there! After getting introduced to her 3 beautiful children and seeing some of her and her family's artwork, we went to the area where she creatively designs custom made jewelry for her customers.

I smile as I look at all of the different pieces she uses to create her jewelry and as I see some of the pieces that she has already created. How on earth does someone put this and that together and come up with something so pretty?

I shake my head in amazement and quickly realize that I better stick to photography, because I'm not able to creative with jewelry like that. ; ) But thank goodness she is! It's fun to watch other people unveil and use the talents that God has blessed them with.

To be following the dream and talents that God has put into your life and then using them to serve and bless others has got to be about one of the most satisfying feelings ever! I could tell that Rebekkah was "in her element" as she got busy creating a piece of jewelry for a special friend of hers.

Such skill and dexterity!

It was amazing to see her work--she was quick and focused, combining efficiency with quality.

I must warn you though, do NOT try this at home!
That soldering gun heats up to 1,000 degrees! Rebekkah told me that it gets VERY hot and that she has the burn marks to prove it!

It was really quite amazing to see the hard metal become pure liquid at the moment the tip of the soldering gun touched it. Wow! That thing sure was HOT!

After soldering the piece, she rubbed it in a cloth to shine it up and put some special liquid in with it to make a slight patina/historical look appear on the metal.

A few more tweaks here and there....

And the project was complete!

Leaving a very happy Rebekkah with a satisfied smile on her face.

Now she had time for the most important treasures in her life--the little ones she is doing this business for. She wants to teach and inspire them to follow their own dreams.

I got a chance to sneek in a little post-blog impromptu photo session with her kids....Thank you Rebekkah! : )

You could definitely tell that Rebekkah loves her kids!

Truly, Rebekkah of Canyon Moon Designs is like having many gifts all wrapped up into one:

1. A loving mother devoted to her kids
2. Talented artist and fantastic designer
3. A wonderful friend and fellow businesswoman

If you would are interested in seeing some of Rebekkah's designs, you can visit her Etsy page at:

You'll be glad that you did! I'm sure glad that I did!
Can't wait to show you some of the special custom made jewelry she makes for Beba Photography!
More to come in the future!

New CD-R/DVD-R Covers/Inserts

The new design I plan to use for my CD-R/DVD-R covers in the near future. They are so "Beba" (me) ; ) I love the look and feel of vintage 1940's Hollywood glamour--the sophistication, the rhinestones and silks, the elegance permeating everything. I love it!

The { O } Princesses -- Child Photography

So, today I ventured out with my friend. We both needed a girl's day and her and I tag teamed to do an impromtu photo shoot of her two beautiful daughters. These girls were quite the divas throughout the day, sassing it up for the camera and pretening that they were glamorous 1940's Hollywood movie stars. I don't know who had more fun--the girls or us! : )

These are a sneak peek of pictures that I took from the shoot today.

This particular shot is one of my favorites, especially with the design around it. You will be seeing a lot more of this type of design with texturing and wording, with what I do with Beba Photography. The design and heart of the messages truly reflect my heart's passion and heart--if you were to open up my heart and look inside, this is what you would find:

I arrived to the location and Beth was there taking pictures of the girls. Kudos to her for finding such an awesome shooting location! : )

I'd met her girls once before and both are precious. They both have these unique personalities that make them special in their own way. One is a total Princess at heart and loves everything pink, glittery and with rhinestones (my hero!) and the other one is a horse riding champion and really seems to do everything with excellence (my other hero!).

Today though, it was all about being a DIVA! Both girls totally hammed it up for the camera! Bring on the silliness and sassiness!

I love (photo) shooting kids the most because they are so genuine and wear their hearts on their sleeves. They aren't afraid of being their own unique selves.
They just embrace who God made them to be and live life with abandon.

Life is a big open book in front of them and they are starting to write their life's story on it's blank pages. These girls are smart and are filling their stories with good things--values, integrity and purpose, even at such a tender, young age.

These girls teach us all to embrace life to its fullest, love the little moments and never take more than one day at a time--enjoy each and every step of the way! : )

As You Wish -- Painting Pottery!

There is a great little pottery place here in Arizona that I think everyone should try at least once in their life. It's a fun place called, "As You Wish."

It's a place where you can paint your own piece of pottery and in the process, create your own little personalized masterpiece. This was Part II of Monica's Birthday outing (see Ms. Thomas' Lovely Tea House for Part I). She had never painted pottery before and I was excited to show her what it was all about! : ) She was pretty excited about it too!

The first thing they have you do when you arrive is pick out a piece of pottery to paint. Monica loves having a cup of tea in the morning and I am an avid (addicted) coffee drinker, so we both chose mugs to paint.

Of course, I couldn't be fully awake unless I had my caffeine first, so I had my Starbuck's cup keeping me company. (A yummy pumpkin spice frappucinno--half coffee, half cream base). Can we say "yum!"

The guy who worked there was really friendly and joyful and was really good at explaining all the ins and outs of painting our pottery pieces. He told us to paint our lights first, then our darks or the colors would get all funny. He also told us that our pieces would look pastel until they were kilned and then the colors would change to a primary color (well, if we did 3 coats). Um...what was step #4 again? Thankfully, he had this great color wheel that had all the reminders on it of what to do.

Our second mission was to find paint from the paint station...and oh, there were lots of colors to choose from!

Once we chose our colors and got our ideas created in our head, we got to work painting our mugs and conversing in between questions like, "What do you think of this?" and "What color should I use next?" It was relaxing and kind of stressful all in one, because you didn't want to mess up. I DID end up messing up my mug. I added a black trim that I ended up hating, but no fear! Joyful guy helper to the rescue! He sanded my mug and patiently scraped away paint with an exacto knife until all the black was gone. My hero! ; )

There aren't any pictures of us painting because it gets pretty messy and I didn't want to get my camera or lenses dirty. But, once we were finished painting, these are what our mugs looked like.

Monica's is on the left and represents her family. I love the super chic polka dots! ; )

Mine is on the right. It has a Scripture written on it that God has been speaking into my life lately and that's why it's there: "Do your planning and prepare your fields before you build your home." (Proverbs 24:27, NLT).

It's a little difficult using pottery as a canvas to paint on, but is sure is a lot of fun!!!

We definitely want to go back and paint more pottery!

Oh....and before the night was over, we had to make one more quick run to Starbucks......for another little drink.
